What current/recent college coach would have won big at ND?
Saban revitalized both LSU and Alabama. He's hands down the best coach in college football. But would ND hire the kind of staff and invest in the kind of resources Saban has had?
Would ND cut corners enough to allow Urban Meyer to have the kind of success he's had at Florida and Ohio State?
I'm not sure that you could put Lou Holtz in a "way-back" machine and he'd have had the ability to do as well after 2000 as he did up through the mid-1990s.
There's got to be a reason that top tier coaches don't get in a footrace to South Bend whenever that job comes open.
